Nollywood actor, comedian and philanthropist, Williams Uchemba has raised alarm over the imminent invasion of flood
due to the high level of water in the Lagoon
The filmmaker took to His official social media account to warn Lagosians to be ready,
as what He saw is not a mere rumor
Williams who said he recently drove by the third mainland bridge, further advised Lagosians to check the state government’s website
In order to note the areas that will be most affected if flooding occurs
Williams Uchemba said, “Yea 3rd mainland lagoon is high and the Lagos State government said the flood is coming.
This is not to scare you but get inform and be ready for anything especially if it’s coming to your side. Stay safe”.
This post triggered reactions online as Netizens expressed shock at the level of the water.
For weeks now, flood has ravaged major cities and towns in Nigeria
and the government has been call upon to immediately swing into action.
This is coming shortly after Waterfront residents of highbrow Ikoyi, Lekki and Victoria Island
as well as coastal areas of Epe and Badagry were alerted by the Lagos state government
to be wary of back flow due to the high tide in Lagos Lagoon.
The advisory was issued by Lagos state Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources Commissioner Tunji Bello.
Bello said that the lagoon’s high tide had made it difficult for storm runoff from the various channels to discharge into the lagoon properly.
He further added that this may have resulted in stagnation into the streets and major roads until the lagoon receded to allow a discharge of the channels.
