The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, has pointed out too much pressure on the pipeline as the real cause of the gas explosion at Abule Ado in Lagos.
Southwest Coordinator of the agency, Ibrahim Farinloye made the revelation on Monday, while debunking claims that the explosion was as a result of bomb blast or any EID.
According to Him, security analysis showed that an eight-tonne truck laden with core stone and parked on the pipeline, exerted too much pressure on it.
Furthermore Fuel which escaped from the pipeline after the pressure stayed on overnight, saturated the atmosphere, formed a whitish substance and exploded.
The NEMA boss said and we quote;
“I can tell you that there was no IED there. The blast was not caused by IED. I am still expecting the report of findings from my officers to know exactly what happened.”
As at Tuesday morning, Death Toll from the explosion has risen to 20.
