With the reign of Governor Abiola Ajimobi coming to an end, Abiola Ajimobi’s hope of becoming a senator representing Oyo South senatorial district has also been crushed owing to a defeat the People’s democratic candidate, Kola Balogun of PDP.
Report from a reliable source claimed that in the February 23 National Assembly election held in the state,Governor Abiola Ajimobi was defeated to second place by the Peoples Democratic Party candidate who was able to garner 105,720 votes.
In other news, Senate president, Bukola Saraki, had lost his bid for re-election into the Senate from Kwara Central on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Saraki lost to Yahaya Oloriegbe of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Saturday’s February 23 senatorial election.
Bukola Saraki got condolence messages from people including Dele Momodu who took to his Instagram handle to praise Saraki’s doggedness and wished him better things to come in the future.
No doubt that Saraki’s loss might prevent Kwara state from climbing very high in the senatorial ladder of Nigeria.
